Atlanta Woman Charged with DUI and Homicide

In Atlanta, a 26 year old woman by the name of Christa Scott has been charged with driving under the influence (DUI) and first degree homicide with a motor vehicle. The Atlanta Police Department also charged Scott with reckless driving.

According to police, last Saturday at 4 AM, Scott was driving with a blood alcohol level that was three times the state's legal limit of 0.08%. She ran a red light on West Peachtree and then crashed into another car on 17th Street. She had been heading north in a Ford Mustang convertible when she collided with the other vehicle.

When police arrived at the scene of the accident, they had to pull the victim from his car and rush him to Grady Memorial Hospital. They say that he later died from his injuries.

At the time of the accident, Scott had a blood alcohol concentration of .229%.
